What’s the best way to make money online with affiliate programs? In this video Shaun Collins, cofounder of Affiliate Summit, shares 7 steps he would take if he were to create a new affiliate site today.

This is a stepping stone for beginners, so you are not going to get rich with this website in the next few weeks. If you stick are it you may start to make money in awhile. It is, after all, a marathon, not a sprint. You should plan to invest time and energy and you will see a payoff down the road.

1. Choose 2 – 3 topics that you are interested in
You should be passionate about the subject otherwise your interest will wane, and you will stop working on the site. Avoid flavours of the day such as what is happening in Google Trends for that day, or that month. For example: your favourite sports team, dog breed, tv shows, movies. Just go with what you care about.

2. Buy a domain name for this new site
Use can use domain providers such as godaddy, namecheap, and try and choose a dot com. The reason for this is because this is the most common prefix that is used on the internet. Domains generally cost about 10 – 12 dollars for 1 year. When you first start choosing a name for your site ( domain name ), don’t send all day deciding what to choose.

make money online from homeGet something that reflects what you are doing, and don’t spend more than 20 minutes deciding. Just figure out a name and move on. For your first domain buy it for just one year. You can always renew it 2 months after you have bought it if you want to. Thats because if it is a project that you decide to abandon later on, you haven’t wasted all that money if you had bought the domain for 5 years for example.
